Scouting for Girls - Analysed Genre

Scouting for Girls have portrayed a story throughout their music video. I would say their music characteristics are very similar to the likes of The Script which relate their music to a story. The whole of the music video you can see a relationship between the music and the visual, considering the styles of editing that had been used. For example their was a lot of slow motion when the 'geeky' character would run, which would be when the tempo of the music picks up. The editing used was mainly slow motion, with long camera shots of the characters facial expressions. When it's a verse the 'geeky' character would be in a different mood to when it's the chorus. It was as if, when the tempo picks up he would be happy.

The band was not shown in the entire music video, therefore it wouldn't be a case of selling the artist. The band is obviously not about close ups and voyeuristic behaviour. Therefore in my opinion its more about the selling the music rather than promoting the band. This shows that not all artists are about their image but are more concerned about how the public percieve their music.
